Electric Daisy Carnival
The weekend of June 26-27 marks the 13th annual Electric Daisy Carnival. Having giving up on raves or in this case "Massives" long over ten years ago, I regained interest during the summer of 2008. Curious about all the hoopla about "Massives" from the younger kids, we went late on Saturday night to the Coliseum where the annual Electric Daisy Carnival was being held. With a group of 10 or so we managed force our way in with out having to pay the hefty entrance fee of $75 (how we did that is an entirely other story). I was immediately in awe at the sheer amount of people who were in attendance. They estimated there were well over 70,000 in attendance which I found believable by looking at the sea of people on the coliseum field.
However I felt bit bit sad and worried for all these drugged up kids all over the place. I mean I'm all for experimenting and having a good time but these kids just don't get it. Its like they just over indulge in everything. In any case we still ended up having a great time and all that led to was what I call the "Free summer of 08". So I'm looking forward to what kind of adventure this years installment will bring. I hope the house ciphers will be in full effect and a variety of dancers will be present.

The RZA on Final Scratch...
This is a old clip I came across where the RZA (Wu-Tang) claims he got the ball rolling on the technology behind Serrato and Final Scratch. I kind of find it pretty believable and made me think of the impact this technology has had on the DJ community these last few years.

House is a feeling...
As the Electric Daisy Carnival approaches I get a little excited at the thought of the house ciphers and the dancers....

My Bike..

So after a year and a half and $300, I have finally finished my reproduction 2005 Schwinn Stingray. I pretty much bought all parts special to make itthe way I envisioned it. I tell you it felt pretty good to ride it for the first time knowing that it was built by me. So next on the agenda is my '85 GT Mach One and a Beach Cruiser of some sort.
Demo of DJ Hero the video game...
I swear being a kid now a days certainly has it's advantages. First Guitar Hero & Rock Band and now DJ Hero. Apparently it interfaces with Guitar Hero so you can get a collaboration mix going which I think is simply amazing. I'm definitely going to pick this one up for my boy.

A 30+ year family tradition broken
Well, I kind of felt this one coming. I couldn't really fathom the empty feeling this left me with this Christmas. Truly one of the only traditions that my family held on to for many years to show love and support for each other regardless of any short comings of falling outs. A some what of a tight bind that was held dear to my grandmother which ultimately became unbound this year. My family's yearly Christmas eve celebration suddenly came to an end. As far as I could remember while growing up, was all the good times that we all had. Running about and seeing all the cousins while the adults enjoy each others company over a Miller lite and coffee. This was something I would hold close to my heart. Honestly this was something my grandmother held great pride in.
I could remember our prayers before we enjoyed all the great food; the turkeys, ham, tamales, potatoes and all of my Tia's own special dishes set out before us to eat. I specifically remember one our last with Mama, while we held each others hands in prayer, I made a quick glimpse over to her and saw tears in her eyes. These were tears of accomplishment and not of sorrow. She was very thankful to the lord for all of us. Even more thankful to have us all together as a family. I cant help but feel ashamed for what has become of our family tradition. I could only imagine the sorrow my grandmother would have felt if she were alive to witness this. The only thing I could do is make a special promise to her that I will not let this happen again.
I love you Mama and may you rest in peace...

A night at the laundrymat...
My washer is'nt being too friendly these days, so I've become a regular at the local laundrymat . I now understand how much of a luxury it is to have a functional washer and dryer at your own despense. I swear I had to in my last few visits fight with the cleaning lady about what time the last wash is, wash my chonies next to a He-She and deal with some bratty kids who I would just love to STRANGLE. If there is anything that I would be thankful for this Thanksgiving, would be the fact that I soon will be washing in the comfort of my own home...

Free Wheelchair Mission
As the holidays approach I urge everybody to please take some time out and think of all those who are less fortunate. Last year I came across the Free Wheelchair Mission while flipping through the channels on the TV. Very impressed with what I had seen, I immediately did some research on it. Amazed at how much you could change someone’s life with a $48.00 donation prompted me to spread the word about the Free Wheelchair Mission. Just think we all could easily spend $48.00 on a night out. Why not help make someone else’s life a whole lot easier?
